Channel Crosstalk
« on: March 06, 2018, 04:12:27 AM »
Hey guys,

Got a weird out of phase crosstalk issue with two non-adjacent channels located within the same bucket on our console. When signal is being sent to the line input of channel 57, channel 59 also gets signal.

Ex: Sending signal to only channel 57 via multitrack return & with the large fader at unity. Raising channel 59's large fader causes phase & signal lowers at the stereo bus. With channel 57's fader completely down, Channel 59 can still send the out of phase signal to the stereo bus (the level of 57's large fader does not affect the level sent to 59).

We've learned that channel 59 is picking up signal post insert return because the EQ & Dynamics (with CH IN selected) on the channel do nothing to the signal. Also if signal is cut on channel 57 signal cuts on channel 59 as well. If 59 is cut, signal on the channel is cut, but not on channel 57. If channel 59 is solo'd, signal on the channel is cut, but not on channel 57.

Another thing is when we send signal directly to channel 57's insert return crosstalk stops.

We've switched out channels & faders, and the problem stays so we're assuming it's a possible bucket issue. Our next step may be to switch the bucket card.

Anyone have an idea of what's going on or what the solution could be?

Thanks,

Josh

Nothin' guys?

Not sure where to even start with this. Read another post, about having a crosstalk issue because of a bad ribbon cable so I'm going to check the ribbons in the bucket & coming from the faders.

Thanks in advance for any help!
