Help! VCA's Not Getting Correct Data from Computer
« on: April 05, 2018, 08:47:55 PM »
Hey guys,

So I posted a week or two ago about our computer not showing any display. We originally thought it was the Video Distribution card (622112E1), but with further testing we've discovered that there's something much more serious going on with the computer.

Now it seems like there's no data getting to the VCA's from the computer.

We sent signal to all 64 channels of our console and not one channel got the the Stereo Bus via raising the large fader. Also something to note, direct does not work. We also tried routing the signal to the Stereo Bus via the small fader & that did not work either.

The only way we were able to monitor signal from the channel was by routing the channel to itself in which we could control level through the small fader.

Anybody have an idea about what's going on?

Thanks in advance!

Josh

No, the video card seems fine. Both fuses are fine at least. We don't have an extender right now so there's not much for us to check. We're just assuming that it's not the video card that's messing with the display because of what else is going wrong. Seems like a bigger issue overall.

Well then you must make sure the computer boots up first before checking faders etc...

Is there disc activity but nothing on display when you power on the computer?

Does all rails work on the computer PSU?

Unclear here,

Can you see anything on the screen?
Can you see the VCA levels on the screen? working or not.

You need to be able to see basic functions on the screen first, then you can make headway.

or

make a bypass jumper for the computer to check basic function of the board without the computer.
