No vca control on module.....1996 G mono channel
« on: May 25, 2018, 05:14:07 PM »
So mono channel 37 is not working. I swapped faders and modules and it follows so its the module.

Passes audio fine and bargraph is full up on tv display.

I changed vca card, compressor card and logic did not help.

Just thought I'd post this and see I'm not a tech just parts changer kind of guy.

Pulled the whole bucket and reseated all the ribbons but as it follows moving 37 to 38 and 38 to 37 it's on the module.

Calling Andy..... 8) 8) 8)

Does the bargraph height reflect the position of the fader, or is it stuck wide open? If you go to the test function !TES OVA, does the VU meter move in Meters to VCA mode? These are the basic tests; anything else involves putting the strip on the extension jig and measuring voltages.

Chris faders to meters on non working channel is full up +3 and bargraph display full up. No fader control.

Move other channel in slot 37 all good so I know it's the module.

Replaced VCA, comp/gate card and logic same thing.

Alrighty then, now you're looking for a connection issue in the strip, or potentially an issue with the 03 Multiplex card. Measure the voltages from the fader to the 13 VCA card edge connector: 0v on pin 33, 5v on pin 35, and 0-5v on pin 25, the fader wiper. If they're good, look for 0-5v on pin 17, Computer Send. If that's good, look for the same 0-5v on pin 20, Computer Return. If that's bad, swap the Multiplex card and check the S21 ribbon is properly seated; that's a very common fault.
