TDA chip on 82E02 input card
« on: February 14, 2023, 10:59:07 AM »
Hi everyone,
I am doing a bit of a research for some content on the above chip.
every time I have worked on one of these card there was only ever a 5534, but in the schematics it calls for a TDA.
I believe it's a TDA 1034 as with a google search I have found the datasheet that matches the 5534...

anyone knows more about it and the history of why the TDA was in the schematic?

found this very interesting article on it.

still does not explain why the 1034 (if it was that) was still used as first op-amp in the chain

Back when that card was designed, maybe they specified the "new" TDA1034 chip as it was low noise, but expensive. So they only used it
as the first IC and all the others were something less good. 741's??

the TDA1034 was the development number of the Philips chip that became the 5534. My guess is that the TDA designation was in use when they designed it and when production happened it was the 5534 that was available from Philips.

I see.. from online research it looks like Signetics designed the TDA, philips bought it in 1976 and changed it into 5534?
