Adding Patchable VCA's
« on: April 17, 2016, 07:34:29 PM »
I'm going to add the patchable VCA's to my console so I'm posting here for what parts are needed.

I've got all my manual/tech books that came with the console so I'm sure it's somewhere in all those pages.

Any comments are recommend.

Thanks

if you have the tools to make all the cabling (idc ribbon, bicc power, and molex audio), you will only need the vca rack (only fits in a g with the wide keyboard), the fader bus card and 4 faders.
documentation is in the service manual, and you can probably tap power off the keyboard.

Let us know what you find, I think it's interesting to know which part number it is on the manual and if there are any ready available alternatives in farnell or the normall suppliers!

i have a spare patch vca rack which i'm willing to sell btw.
not sure if it would be worth all the hassle to build the whole circuitry (x4) from scratch.

Matt-I don't want to build just assemble cards and cables.
Brew-PM sent.
Looking in the service manual today reminds me why I love this console and the build quality SSL put into it. :)
Card#82e320-VCA card
Card#82e321-AFL Interface card
         82e322-VCA Motherboard

On the 8k the patchable VCA's were in a rackmount box outside the console.

If anybody has pics of cards and cage let me know or post. Thanks

Hey Matt. No luck yet. Talked with Mark @ Funky and he said he was low on SSL spares. I thought he had tons of SSL pieces.

Thanks ULH. So that's where it goes. I've never opened my keyboard panel.
