Trouble shooting for TR on channel
« on: May 26, 2013, 11:59:05 PM »
I have a 4072 G+, and am looking to troubleshoot TR that has stopped working on a couple channels.  The two channels are in separate banks.  The TR screen shows all nobs hard right when the channel is selected in TR and the channel fader is all the way down.  Moving the channel fader to the top causes all nobs to go hard left.  Engaging buttons on the channel does not register on the TR.  So far I have checked all ribbon cables on the channel, recapped the few capacitors on the mulit-plex card, and rechipped the entire multi-plex card.  Nothing has yielded success, and the symptoms remain the same. Does someone have a recommendation for further troubleshooting?  Thanks much!!!!

Hi Eric and welcome to the board.
Let me guess you have Ultimation as well?

I had this very same problem in few channels in our G+ Ultimation console few months ago and IIRC problem was fried chip in the Fader module. I have it all in my Service Diary witch I'll reach in couple of days so I can then confirm the exact component I've changed. Meanwhile you might want to swap fader from another channel to see what happens.

Cheers,
Paavo

Thanks Paavo,

I switched faders to no avail.   Recall still does not work on the channel.  I also swapped places with the channel next to it, and the failure of recall followed the channel, not the slot.  Hmmmmm...what next?

Ok, got myself back to studio and checked my Service Diary.

I had fried logic chip IC11 (4081) at VCA board 82E354. Same problem in three separate channels.
I also recalled correctly the fader module failure. Exactly same symptoms but there was fried IC5 at Ultimation Fader.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Paavo, replacing the 4081 brought the recal back to life!
