Just got to the studio.
There is not any AC present at the power rails
(Measured with a digital Multimeter, scope is somewhere in a box...).
I will try to post a sound file later.

From what you're describing my guess is the problem could be your 48v PSU.
Do you have access to a scope to look at the 48v power rail.
You've measured the DC voltage, now measure the AC voltage on the 48v line.
There really shouldn't be any present. For a reference you could measure the AC on
one of the other voltage rails. I read your supply is new, but it could still have gone bad.
A friend of mine has an Atomic supply and his 48v failed in the first year.

Possibilities: Fault in the 48 volt power supply.
Interference from an outside source getting in to microphones.
You need to be more specific about the fault. Is it with no microphones connected?
What wiring is connected to the mike inputs?
Is your grounding done correctly?

I tested the P48 line with a Multimeter, was 47,9v.
The Powersupply is a one year old MPower from Malcom Toft.
The Display on the PSU shows 48v.
I teste two different Power Cables, even a 1m Cable, no difference.
It's not a ground or 50 Hz hum, its a high buzzing noise.

There are two 25m Mogami Looms connected to the Mic Inputs, all with separate Grounds.
I have a Lemo Patchbay for the Mic Lines/ChannelMic Ins, because its a way better connection than the usual (and 40+ years old) Bantam Patchbay.
The normalisation works with bridging Connectors. I removed all of the Connectors, so not mic lines were connected at all,
No difference.
The Noise is there even if nothing is connected to the Mic Inputs...

We also switched of every Light in the Studio, absolutely no difference.
No Rack gear was switched on or was connected to the Console.

I have no clue right now...
Thanks!

Did you have to split the console? Did you mix up your power and audio bus bars when you reinstalled?

Yes, I had to split the Console in two parts, next to the center section.
In my opinion I installed it all correctly...
What do you mean exactly with power and audio bars?
Every 8 Ch Backplate has its power connector installed.
The Ribbons (I think it is SE5, 6, 7, something) are installed correctly...

The rest of the console is working as before, tested every Channel ( I mean there are still some faults, but they were already there before).

^^^ This!!

The grounding scheme did not really change in the new Studio.
All the cabling was working before (There was a long thread how I should ground it the right/SSL way).
The only Exeption in the new Studio is, there is a dedicated Studio Earth, all connected at one Point.
The Console is connected to this Point with am 10sqmm Grounding Cable (the Buzz is still there if I disconnect the Ground Cable).
The Console has a dedicated Power Cable Wich was working fine with the Former Duality and the 9K.
All of the computer Connections are only grounded at the Computers end.
The rest of the original external Patchbay has the original SSL grounding scheme.

Hi dear Forum members!

I moved to another Studio and reinstalled my SSL E 4000 Console this January.
It works quite ok, some minor issues after the move.
My main Problem is right now, that if I switch on P48 it makes a buzzing noise on all channels
(I have a master Phantom switch, because all if the mic pre gains were changed to rotary switches).
The Console runs with a new Malcom Toft Power PSU.
It definitely was not there in my former Studio.

Does anyone of you have an idea what it could be?
Thanks a lot!

Best,
Tilmann

Ahh that would be funny but.
I’m happy with the Tangerine unit I have so. Computers in my mind are totally obsolete.
I’m sure there are parts floating around
