4056G+ Total Recall stopped working... where to start?
« on: August 30, 2012, 06:23:35 PM »
Hey guys,
I have a new problem that has popped up in my total recall that has me puzzled.
Usually, when I use the Play Setup command, I run thru the normal set of prompts then hit the fader select button to start the TR. At that point my Primary monitor feed from the computer switches to show the thumbwheel positions on the screen. I can then switch the monitor to RGB to display the recall graphics.
Whats happening now is after I hit the fader select button, the console searches for (and stops at) channels that need to be adjusted, but the screen stays on the TR Prompt screen. Doesn't display thumbwheel settings or recall graphics. The TR does appear to work since it can detect changes done to the settings, but refuses to display graphics.
SO far, I've tried a new video card in the SSL computer, as well as a new monitor.
Any guesses on where to start looking?

Hi Dan,

Could it relate to the water leaking I read about in another post?

Stef.

It sounds like the problem we are having on ours.

the TR card has a piggy back system to the video card, therefore if your video is not displaying what it should it's probably due to the TR, cause the video card is a mere amplifier...
the way I understood is :
the video card only amplifies signals and deals with the IN/OUT switching of sources
the TR card (the double card connected together) does everything pretty much.

so if you get no video it's probably the video card, if you get video but some functions are not working correctly then it's the TR card...

we ended up sending it to Keith Skerret

he has a spare working computer and all the knowledge to get it back on track.

Mattia.

Yeah, this is definitely related to my AC issue.
As far as I can tell, there is no actual water damage and all of these issues are from moving the psu/computer tower out of the way for the AC repair guy.   >:(
I had a tech come over to check it out the other day. Seems that my monitor's RGB input coincidentally shit the bed. For now, we hooked up the Green output to the primary cable so we can automate and do TR in black and white.
ugh... now back to figuring out my cpu issue.
I tried Keith, but keep getting auto-replies that he's on vacation.

What it was?

A stupid one, after a recap I putted the cards back in wrong slots L8-L7 instead of L9-L8
