When SSL became the world leader in mixing consoles in the 1980's, Neve had to lay off quite a lot of employees (I remember we all gloated at the time … sad but true!). At some later point, various companies started to specialise in Neve console refurbishments as they didn't support the older products although I gather that they eventually, at least, had a working relationship with Shep Associates who were based nearby at the time.
30 years later and, as SSL no longer supports their older consoles, we almost have the same situation. Luckily enough, we have the Internet for some means of technical information and spares. Sites like Gearslutz have a lot of posts on a daily basis dealing with loads of different manufacturers and equipment issues but, apart from SSL, if they can help, where else can you find out or discuss just SSL related topics? Nowhere as far as I know so, keep supporting this site and tell your work colleagues so we can all make this a one stop SSL place to visit especially concerning the older consoles.
This website is only a few weeks old and Mattia, who created it, deserves our continued support. If it gradually gets more hits, there may also be a chance of some advertising which would help pay for it. Don't reply to this, just tell others about the site!
