I see what you mean. I think Marc already came across a similar problem, where to drive the console to a point he's satisfied he would be overdriving the PT returns too.

You're referring only to monitoring, but what signal are you taking back into PT? Is the same from the SSL 025 card or the standard 2-bus out?

From what I understand of your setup you're actually not using any of the monitoring facilities in your desk and using an external controller to manage all those inputs?

I was thinking on a similar setup but bringing the sources directly on external inputs on the console.

Cheers,

Artur

I come out of the 025 card, in my case, I feed my monitor controller, Protools 2 track input and a NTP Plasma/Phasemeter using a three way Y splitter.

The 025 card buffers: LF, RF, RB, LB and then makes Left, Right and Mono feeds.

External to monitors on the console is great for Two track Tape, Dat.. but, modern converters will be to hot, and you'll need to pad all the inputs.

in 2014, you need to switch between SSL and digital sources as part of the workflow.

I see what you mean. That was something I wasn't exactly expecting.

I think I will  have to slowly get into the ideal workflow and setup. At this time is hard to get the big picture as you have.

All tips are welcome my friend! thanks for everything!

Cheers,

Artur

Hi guys,

Just to update the current status of the console:

- All the work on the patchbay has been finished
- All modules and faders got back into the frame
- Also the rack has been prepped and everything was connected

So all is ready to be fired up and started to be tested. After that the entire desk will be brought up to SSL's specs.

Here are some photos:

More updates soon!

Cheers,

Artur

One thing I was surprised and I loved was those flat cables that aren't flat anymore! ;) I hate flat cables.... ;)
