Automan Open Source
« on: April 14, 2017, 11:07:36 AM »
Yo kids,

I'm considering letting go of my CV96 project.
I just can't afford to keep stock or even run the last revisions of cards / metal works / china orders.

It's sad though, I spent an awful lot of time and money on the project.
And, it kicks ass(es).

One solution could be to call for community assistance.
I know most of you aim for the sslmixed computer, and I don't wanna ruin that effort. I know Artur invested a lot of sweat.

Anyway, I make a call out and see where it lands.

My main(apart from finance) problem is assembling and testing.
There's a lot of soldering and crimping for the backplane and EX08 cards and must be proper tested on an SSL - which I don't have anymore.
Some consoles need some extra grounding overlook and other on site corrections. etc etc.

I could strip it down to manufacture cards with all the SMD and firmware already onboard.
Through hole, assembly and testing left to do for the buyer.
I can also provide the chassis and metalwork, or at least redirect some kind of group buy setup.
This would of course drop the price a lot.

I'll continue to work on the software because I use a custom version of the hardware myself on the API I work on.
With that said, I happily share the protocol for the system.
For a programmer it's as easy as it's gets. Standard driverless USB HID protocol that works with all standard HID libraries.
Or, if anyone want to fork any part there's a github repository with all firmware and software already.

I can write down some more meaty info on what's included and the outline of the design if anybody is interested.
From what I know, the CV96 is the most versatile system yet with real external sync, high channel count, easy customised etc.

And again, Artur and the Canadians, I hope I don't step on your toes ;-)

Sincerely,
Pelle Gunnerfeldt - Automan

This is the basic features of the v2.0 software.
https://youtu.be/GP0H6LSE3W0

If anyone wanna try out just the software - with the CV96/SSL simulator.
Let me know. I send a link to the app. Mac only at this point.

The CV96 might survive after all .. there might be a solution where I back out of the hardware manufacturing and just help out with software and firmware.

Peace out!

Hi Pelle,

Me and Arthur have just had a conversation about this.
Let's see what we can do together between the 4XK project and what you have developed.

We talked before about that, hope this will be of use for others - and I am sure, it will be for me.

Would really like to have a closer look at the software.

Hope so - it's always hard to let a 'baby' go ......

So have you decided to team up Pelle on this.

We need to get a cost effective solution out to the market. I just recently has a big scare with mine and I will need an option if it happens for good.

We are trying to find a viable way of doing it.
Artur is currently developing the XKsystem.

There is this guy in New York putting together my system as a kit right now. I hope for success :-)
This would be a very cheap solution.
