Yo kids,
I'm considering letting go of my CV96 project.
I just can't afford to keep stock or even run the last revisions of cards / metal works / china orders.
It's sad though, I spent an awful lot of time and money on the project.
And, it kicks ass(es).
One solution could be to call for community assistance.
I know most of you aim for the sslmixed computer, and I don't wanna ruin that effort. I know Artur invested a lot of sweat.
Anyway, I make a call out and see where it lands.
My main(apart from finance) problem is assembling and testing.
There's a lot of soldering and crimping for the backplane and EX08 cards and must be proper tested on an SSL - which I don't have anymore.
Some consoles need some extra grounding overlook and other on site corrections. etc etc.
I could strip it down to manufacture cards with all the SMD and firmware already onboard.
Through hole, assembly and testing left to do for the buyer.
I can also provide the chassis and metalwork, or at least redirect some kind of group buy setup.
This would of course drop the price a lot.
I'll continue to work on the software because I use a custom version of the hardware myself on the API I work on.
With that said, I happily share the protocol for the system.
For a programmer it's as easy as it's gets. Standard driverless USB HID protocol that works with all standard HID libraries.
Or, if anyone want to fork any part there's a github repository with all firmware and software already.
I can write down some more meaty info on what's included and the outline of the design if anybody is interested.
From what I know, the CV96 is the most versatile system yet with real external sync, high channel count, easy customised etc.
And again, Artur and the Canadians, I hope I don't step on your toes ;-)
Sincerely,
Pelle Gunnerfeldt - Automan
