8" floppy drive
« on: October 28, 2020, 05:10:13 PM »
Hey all.  I have an 8" floppy drive for an SSL G+ computer that has been collected dust for the last 13 years.  Is there any value in it for anyone these day?  It seems sacrilege to throw any vintage SSL thing away!

Well - I sold a 8" floppy on ebay a couple of years ago and got about 50 bucks - no SSL though but from a mainframe computer.
So it might be interesting to computer collecting humans as well.
I still have some disks laying around somewhere if needed ;-)

Hi

“Horizonsound” / Anthony used the SASI pcb (and maybe chassis?) from the SSL 8” floppy to create a usb key replacement for both the program and reel drive and that has some value in my opinion. This is described in a recent thread on this forum. So I think it’s a bad idea to toss it :)

Best regards,
Uffe
