Many thanks - I'll try not to make you wait another year for the next instalment! :)
One more thing I've just remembered (I think I have told this story before here somewhere): I guess everyone here knows that each EQ had it's own LF knob colour, so of course we needed a new knob colour for the G series EQ, and the only Sifam colour we hadn't already used was yellow. That's good I thought, goes with the whole idea of these being the "gold cards", and so for the first G series equipped desk I specified yellow LF knobs. I vividly remember Colin Sanders walking into the room, stepping back as if he'd been hit, and saying "you can't use that colour, it looks horrible." And when I stood back and looked again I realised he was absolutely right. So since we didn't really expect to fit '242 EQs to G series desks we (after some debate) reused the black knobs, expecting that we would still use brown for '02s (classic E series) and orange for '132s (Pultecs). Not sure we ever did though!

Andy

Thanks Andy.
We need to find you a channel module. Must be one laying around somewhere.
Thanks for being here. All the guys who own these consoles are a special lot.
We always look forward to hearing your stories.

Andy,
I love the history!. Great reading. Maybe a book in the future?

I've often thought that if we could get people to contribute you make an amazing TV documentary about the 1977-1990ish years - definitely a "truth is stranger than fiction" story...I reckon it would take a very persuasive person to get the memories together though, there were some strong personalities involved which is what made it so interesting.
Cheers,
Andy

You definitely wouldn't have a problem finding people to do audio post!

Please repost story, if anybody is offended they can offer the way they remembered
it. SSL has an amazing legacy, you can't make an "omelette" like that without cracking
a few eggs...
