In defence of Atomic, they are providing a product that comes with a large amount of consequential risk, so I don't see an issue with the price of the units.
What can be lost in this is the cost of development, even though there may only be $2000 worth of parts inside.
Generally I spend a few hundred hours a month on SSL developments, which is all my own unpaid time.
Sometimes things don't go as planned, and have had a few issues along the way.
As long as they are around to support their product now and in the future, then that is fine by me.
Anthony.
