Heheh, Stef, It's a most awesome console, and I guess… accusing it to be 'short loaded' would be.. both criminal! and quite short sighted!

Where did this console reside before you? and do you power cycle it every day?

hahahahaha, that's right, notice the 16 empty slots and not the 56 loaded ones! LOL

The console came from SAE Byron Bay.

Yes I cycle the power, there have been no problems so far doing this.

Still sorting out computer problems with her.

Title: Gabriel O red trim SSL console
Post by: jimlfixit on September 24, 2012, 12:16:19 AM
I love this red finish and I remember one being made but can't recall who originally bought it. In my time at SSL there were a few custom trim versions in different colours. Sometimes, even all the metalwork was a different colour (there was at least one in blue).

At least a few consoles had wooden trims which also look very nice. I think Jay Kay (Jamiroquai) has one, thanks to Al Smart.

All these different finishes make the console stand out and these pictures prove that.

Jim Lassen (www.profcon.co.uk). I'm a wiring kinda guy by the way if you need any of that stuff (patchbays, wiring, connectors and panels).

Great pictures of consoles chaps (Mattia, Stefan and Gabriel so far) but, as a wiring person, I have to say that some of the cabling underneath the SSL on the floor is a bit untidy. Perhaps get some trunking so all the wiring is hidden and looks pretty.

Mark Mozart, we have been in contact before so perhaps you may like to show some pictures of your console as well as I know you have done a big refurb and cleaning job on it.

I admire all you techies for spending the time recapping and cleaning your consoles as it must take a long time to do. In the short time this site has been live, I can tell that there are a lot of very passionate SSL users out there around the world. I'll do my best to support that from a wiring point of view.

I'm impressed with what I have seen so far so, keep up the good work (and maybe tidy some of those cables up!).

Jim Lassen, Bucks, UK (www.profcon.co.uk).

Guilty I'm afraid.

My place is a little tidier. But unfortunately there are no troughs for cables at my place.

Title: SSL console finishes and colours
Post by: jimlfixit on December 19, 2013, 12:08:39 PM
Hi all

I love the blue, red and even green themes for these SSL consoles and CR's (control rooms). Mostly from Germany for some reason apart from versions from Slovenia and Croatia I think.

Has anyone got a wood finish console to show us (I know of at least two out there in oak or ash and there are more)? Also love the Duality pictures (I haven't seen one close up before).

So far, Stefan N has the biggest (!) but, any more huge ones to show (I mean consoles of course)? Stefan, as a wiring kinda guy, I notice all the cables under the console (I've mentioned this before). Get some form of trunking to tidy them up a bit dude otherwise I'll have to be a stow away on a ship (2 months?) or hide in an aircraft wheel compartment (36 hours if I don't freeze to death or drop out!) to get to your studio eventually and sort it out.

Regardos everyone from Jim Lassen (heck, I've got another Karma point ... watch out Andy!)

Hi all, it's been a while since I've been here and forgot how great this community is. I spent most of last year building my new studio so I've been catching up on all things SSlmixed tonight. Here's a shot of my SSL in her new resting place in our CR  which sounds fantastic - it was designed and build throughly...so I'm more passionate about the console than before. I can't wait for the SSlmixed Computer. Thanks for all the SSL love and work everyone. TKO - Wellington, NZ.

Hi !

After four years of planning, we finished our studio building located 15km from downtown of Gdansk. Built from scratch in a beautiful countryside, but with a distance of 11km from international airport.
Studio Equipped with SSL4048 G+, great monitoring system, amazing collection of outboard, microphones and instruments ;-)
The first of two recording rooms is 7,5m high, with a 60m2 surface, with a perfect view of a forest from the hill. Perfect place for recording smaller orchestras, tracking full bands live, or recording huge rock drums.
Second recording space is a 3,4m high, 34m2 surface is a special room designed to use it for smaller bands.
Studio has also a special separated iso booth with a surface of 15m2 made for guitar/bass cabinets isolation.

I would like to thank You guys - because thanks to You we found Michael Stockdale, Peter Higgs and they helped us a lot with console ;-)

Hope You like it ;-)
