Thanks Andy, this will help me out a ton. Since I don't have any bicc connectors can I solder straight to the lugs? Channels got here today, but I'm out of town working, which blows, cause I want to fire these up.lol I seen where your leaving groupdiy. I hate that, but this is your home now.hehe

Hey Myke, I soldered directly to the BICCS, then onto Female Dsubs, via 8 pair muliticore.

Yep, had enough of Group DIY!

Thanks andy for the info, that will help me out a ton.
Since I don't have any bicc connectors, and my channels will be here tomorrow, can I just solder to the lugs that will go to my dsubs. I have the dsubs finally that goes on back of bucket. Or should I try and find some bicc connectors? Where could I order them from, and what would be the part number?
Since I've never dealt with these kind of connectors..
Thanks bro for all your help and info dude.

Much faster to solder direct, I'd recommend cutting the jacket off 8 way multicore (or 16 or 24) to leave the foil screened leads. I'd then solder to the BICC's first, then zip-tie them back to eights, then finally solder the Female Dsub.

I don't have in-depth photos.. but a few when I did some standalone bucket mixers :) Would actually be so much easier to remove the upper bus card! and solder on the bench!!!

Take your time, don't rush to use the channels :-)

Update::: Finally after months searching for the infamous 026 cards, I found some here in the states. What's even better, dude is throwing in another bucket. Apparently this guy was the head man/chief tech at a major studio in Nashville that I interned at. Wait one second fellow SSL geeks, he is giving me the metal to cutdown to whatever size I decide to build my console, hold on there is more. He is also giving me all the trim and everything I need to make it really nice like my bro (Andy) console.
So it's time to get down and dirty and get my baby girl up and running.
Then it will be time for SSL wiring/patchbay god Jim to get me a patchbay going.
So I think Santa must have heard me call him a fat bitch cause this is the best luck I've had in years.
So Andy, get ready dude cause you no I'm going to asking alot questions.LOL...
Oh yea, Marc is sending me some of his odds and end stuff also.
Get R' Done...

Do you need some kind of computer to run a version of logic for the bucket?  I have a 4056G and a spare bucket that I would like to power and use in a different room.

No, it doesn't need any computer for logic. Sintech made a little box that tricks it to think it see's logic or something like that. Hopefully he'll chime in. He comes up with some crazy stuff that blows my mind.
I see your from Nashville, be there in a few days. What part of Nashville are you at?

Hi, what metering does your spare bucket have?

Use a “Computer Bypass Lead” to eliminate the need of a computer.

You’ll need to set the faders to Independent unless you integrate 82E20 VCA card (not worth it for a single bucket)

Regarding Logic, you can hookup some momentary switches and a 82E21 Master Status card, this really simple to do. This will give full access to the usual Statuses Via the S3 ribbon connector.

Power wise, before the introduction of Stereo channels, buckets were breakered at 4A, now 6A.

So my reckoning a fully pumping 8 channels will be touching 3.5A

Personally, I’ve used an 6.8A silent (almost) supply same as Myke has, this is tried and tested solution.

If you want Program audio from the bucket, you can use a single 82E32 3 x Cue Mix card to give: LF RF and Cue 1

It’s all really dependant on your needs, thing is.. what you want to do is totally possible :-)

If you want to get your hands dirty.. I can supply:

Momentary switches in Black or G series Grey.

 82E21 Master Status Card

 82E32 3x Cue Mix Card

Power Supply Wired to a 6 way BICC

Jim is the man to talk to about audio interfacing, but I would imagine all your needs could go on a single bay.

Jim can supply an SSL Patchbay pre-wired to 6 way BICC’s ready to plug into your bucket.

Hi

I'm working on a 16 Channel Mini 4k, with no master section or computer, it looks like in Record Mode, but My customer would like to activate VCA To Mon, any ideas on how to do it in a simple way?

I think getting a 82E21 card is the best way, but the customer wants the simplest solution.

Thanks in advance

Hi getting a 21 card, and fitting three switches: Mix, Rec and VCA to Mon is very quick to do.

Of course, but could it be done without the card?

My customer also needs the cheapest way, and he doesn't need more than the VCA To MON switched on always

Thanks

You could work out a switching arrangement with protection diodes to feed the buckets

Myke.. just read it all off the schematics, and 14 years using the console.

Here's what I'm digging out for you, do you want Grey G or Black E switches? The pots are Centre Dented where needed also :-)))
