DC on Mini Monitor Volume Pot
« on: January 08, 2024, 07:36:48 PM »
Hello Everyone,

We suffered a power surge 2 weeks ago and our 4064G+ was damaged. The volt rails on the Master Section motherboard burned - taking other things out before it failed. I'm repairing...

At issue, there is up-to 2 volts DC on the Mini pot wiper as I increase gain. It's noisy (of course) and pushes DC to uncoupled amp/monitors (like the Bryston/NS10 combo). My guess is the 24 card, as the non-wiper connections are there, but nothing seems apparent on that card. I'll pull the 22 card as well to check DC leaking into the wiper return. Any ideas before I get the scope out? Have you had a similar problem?

Thanks!

I'm posting about Total Recall and Meters on the forum as well. If a moderator needs to combine the post, please do so and let me know.

For future reference, the culprit(s) were blown 5534s ( IC6, 7 and 8 ) from the Listen Mic/Mini circuit on the 22 card. They were leaking DC into the pot wipers.
