Title: AWS900 channel meters stuck when in DAW mode

As per title.

Our little AWS900 is connected to Protools via MIDI with a MOTU.
We are experiencing something rather curious. once you press stop the DAW meters (which show up on the console meters)  stay stuck on.
randomly and at random levels.
they work just fine while the music is playing.

tried to reset the console, tried to replug the MOTU in different USB ports and checked all cables...
any suggestion?

Further checks:
console works fine with Ethernet and IP over MIDI..
