SSL 4k Solo cuts other channels HF only???

One or two of my channels only seem to get the HF cut when another channel is in SOLO. It's seems to be related to having them grouped in some way... I'm trying to reproduce it, but it seems so intermittent.

Any thoughts on how this could happen?

This is from the SSL Training 'service course notes' (must try and scan this manual) It’s maybe the least confusing diagram for the VCA groups+ solo/cuts:
