Bucket with dancing VU's and staticky audio?
« on: February 29, 2016, 08:55:27 AM »
Any one have any clues as to where to start with diagnosing a bucket on SSL 8056 GB? It started with the first two channels in the bucket then eventually spread to the other 8. Now all the VU's dance and it outputs static to the mix bus. The rest of the buckets are fine. Maybe a group amp card? Never seen this behavior. Any input as to where to start is much appreciated.

Could be many things, but I've seen this on my 4000G due to the film-pan cards, which are the last card on every channel before the mix-bus. Not sure if an 8000 has these, but if yes, check the connectors and also coupling caps on these.

Check the bucket power switch, you should be getting the same voltage out as in on +/- 18v and "13".
