Its after the pan pot. Look at the diagram more carefully.

One last piece.
If it's in "vu" mode the signal shows -10 without the signal cable, and when I connect the signal cable, the plasma shoots up to the top and he vu pins as well.

Also, the pinned signal on the plasma is on the ppm side. On the "vu" side it's at -10

To add:
The plasma is pinned whether it has signal cable or not.
Has power via the large ribbon cable.

Wondering. What would cause my plasma meter for the RF signal to be pinned full, which in turn makes the associated Vu to pin. No signal passing at time of this.
The vu works normally and responds correctly when the plasma is removed.
The plasma and vu are on the same small ribbon cable for signal.

Plasma was working for the first hour and then now stays pinned to the top.
4K,6K,8K Series / How does the SSL Pan-Law work?
« Last post by atticmike on October 20, 2017, 04:07:04 PM »
Hello there,

Could someone explain to me the following things concerning the pan-law:

1. What's exactly changing the level? I guess if it is panned to the middle it looses level by a poti changing resistance and dropping the level and to the sides it increasingly gains the original voltage back that was going through the channel?

2. What happens if I send let's say a snare for example to a stereo parallel (via pressing for example 9 and 10 on the output routing matrix), which consists of two mono channels panned each left and right (subgroup engaged on the 2 channels 9 and 10) pan-law-wise? I assume the send is done before the pan law poti which means it lacks the effect of a pan law? Meaning for example that a drum mix on the parallel has louder mono tracks vs the drum mix going directly from the channels to the mixbus? Or is this send done after the pan law poti?

According to the Diagram, it looks like it is before the pan poti regarding question number #2? which means no pan law on the small  fader sends to a bus which returns to subgrouped channels.
4K,6K,8K Series / Re: External monitoring not working
« Last post by oyanliz on October 20, 2017, 01:31:56 PM »

I have checked each the component of the CF82E24 card wich can afect to the issue. I swapped TR11 with TR13 and checked all the resistors and diodes.

I spend some time checking the section and ST5 left input (from patchbay) is working routing via SLS monitor output , but no other external input is working. As far as I unterstund, CF82E28 cards are for SLS and Monitor selectors, but swapping them, nothing changes. I am going to check the connectios of the patchbay, but after this, I do not have more ideas for how to forward with the issue.

I would apreciate any help.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards.

4K,6K,8K Series / Re: 651 section slot 22 cap >SOLVED<
« Last post by oyanliz on October 19, 2017, 12:55:45 PM »

I do not know what is exactly this cap for. It is installed between 0V and a light brown wire on the socket of the CF82E21 card. I thought it was something standard in the 651 board but I am not able to find any info in the documentation (I do not have the original manual, I only have the manuals and schematics downloaded and bought on this forum).

Regarding to the problems on the monitor section:

- I found a TL074 op amp wit a broken leg on card CF82E24
- I found a 4023 IC plugged upside down on card CF82E22
- I will change the main monitor pot by one used but cleaned internally

Mini LS, Dim, Monitor cut... everything is working fine again. I hope the main monitor pot issue will be caused by dirt.

The external to monitor section still does not work. I am talking about it in another post of mine.

Thanks for helping!!

Thanks a lot for the reply.

I will definitely keep the producer's desk intact should I be able to remove it.

I just did it.
It's kinda easy. But a pain at the same time. You need the proper side panels to put it back on. So keep the producer desk in tact!
