4K,6K,8K Series / Re: Recapped Channel Not Getting to the Stereo Bus

We're definitely double & triple checking polarity as we go, so far so good. The channels are having different problems, there's about 6 channels not getting to the Stereo Bus. About 3 are getting to the Insert Send, non to the Group Output or its own Group. We're going through the channels and trying out new VCA & Group Amp cards.

Appreciate the help!

Definitely try and swap cards to find out where the problem is, then narrow in with a scope

4K,6K,8K Series / Post fader metering and bus comp question
« Last post by Immortal Sound on January 20, 2018, 06:58:25 AM »
Hey guys quick question anyone utilizing post fader metering? This way your seeing the output after eq and fader riding on individual channels?

I canít seem to do it on my g+ Se
I can do it when not using small fader Ie: using the ready group and direct buttons but once Iím using small fader for parelell compression it removes it from the bus. So Iím stuck. I kind of remember on the old e this didnít happen. But it was so long ago I donít remember.
Faders into meters just place fader position??

Question 2

Anyway to patch the quad comp into say channel 5 and 6 but leave the master fader post 2 bus insert and functional??

Thanks guys in advance.

I'd probably scope backwards from the large Fader buffer (located on the Mic/Line Card)

Would that be on the 82E27 card?

solder bridge, cold solder joint on some control voltage that affects that VCA

close inspection time.

4K,6K,8K Series / Distortion and Pumping Level/Meters On Stereo Bus
« Last post by Matt Salazar on January 17, 2018, 04:23:06 AM »
When sending an oscillator (1kHz @ +4db) into a channel and out through the L/R stereo bus or when the oscillator is patched directly into the PRE VCA return, there is a low level but audible ring coming from the stereo bus. When looking at an FFT display it looks like a crazy amount of harmonics bunched together. Oddly adjusting the threshold of the Quad Comp (with the comp not engaged) adjusts the level of various harmonics slightly.

There is also a random pumping (+/- .8db) of the audio. You can see the meters pumping up and down in the video below.

https://youtu.be/Hjs2Snzl-Po

When I patch into the post fader return the signal is clean (no distortion) and the pumping is gone.

I should also note that the Left and Right channels of the stereo bus are in sync with the pumping up and down. Also, the cards in the center section have all just been recapped.
