Small Daughter board for on the 611 Main Board
« on: April 22, 2023, 03:28:44 AM »
Hi,

Can someone please let me know what this little square board is/does?
Its got itself a ribbon that runs around to a few parts near the edge connector.
I dont have schematics for this console and its not a part that exists on my console.

I'm basically helping a friend with a bastard of a console he bought off of someone. Its been a nightmare for him and i wanna help. Just sorting out the weirdness before i get in to the rest of the issues hes having.

Its a 6k console, these are 611V models, Some have this little square, some dont, Some Channels have the Line to meters some dont. Some have a hole where this little card would have been mounted, but no card. Some dont have the card and do not have a hole to put one even if we wanted.

What could it be? :)

I have a bunch more questions on the hack of this console, but that wil be for another thread.

Thanks!! MM

Ive flipped it over and its a 183 card. No documentation on it on my end. Any ideas? Figuring its for an older preamp/line card to drive meters maybe?

Hi thanks for the reply..

One of the pictures is of the 13 card. The vca card. But it’s there to show where the ribbon wires go from the 183 card in the other picture.
The 183 card is the question mark! :)

Looks like a FET and control transistor?
Is it a J112 and BC212 on the E183 board?

Map out where the lines are picking up the edge connectors, and it should become apparent.

Anthony.

Heya.
It’s a 175 and a 112.
Yellow wire is on pin 53 of the main 611 connector.
Red wire is on pin 9 of the main 611 connector.
Green wire is connected to the resistor network and then to ground above the 13 card.
Purple wire is connected to a resistor then to the white bank of 15k resistors above the 13 card.
Blue wire is connected to pin 1 on the 13 card.
Grey wire is connected to pin 29 on the 13 card.

I’m guessing it’s the missing part of the old 01 cards and cards of that generation ; for the meter input in mix circuit.
But am not certain.

The reason it’s a mystery right now is that this console was “built” by someone who had two of the same consoles to chop.
Recapped them at the same time and I think his method was to disassemble. Recap and then reassemble at random with pieces that fit. Not pieces that came out and were put back in the right place.

So along the way I’ve been finding some oddities. And issues.  Trying to solve them for this friend of mine who now owns the board.  Getting there.
