WTB: Keyboard for 4k-8k
« on: August 03, 2012, 05:26:41 PM »
Hey Guys,
I'm adding TR and automation to an 8000GB and need a keyboard. The frame size wont allow for the full size G keyboard, so I'm looking for the mini. I believe there is also a card that piggybacks on the small keyboards for TR that I'll need as well.
thanks in advance
Dan

On the earlier SSL consoles, they used a 681E keyboard panel in the centre section. Other smaller sized panels normally used for customer options (like fitting Lexicon remotes) and tape machine controls (wired to S28E 25 way D connectors) were generally a 682 size. The 685 5" TV and 683, programmable equaliser were also the same size as a 682 panel as well I think along with the Events controller and Real time system panels (686 and 687 ??)

The 681E keyboard had a TR card fitted when required although SSL started to fit these in a non TR console so that clients would wonder why the card was there, enquire about TR and possibly get a future sale!

Anyway, the card you are after for the 681 keyboard is a 82E88 PCB and along with the 03 channel TR cards plus the computer 89 and 90 PCB's, constituted the bulk of the SSL Total Recall system PCB's. I recently saw an 88 card for over £100 on Ebay or, perhaps Gearslutz. Hope this helps. Recycled Audio, George Gilbert or Funky Junk should be able to help on this.

Keep prowling around ebay, there have been keyboards on there from time to time.

http://www.rhoadesaudiodesigns.com might be able to help you in the USA, and www.proaudiodesign.com

Steve, can I be second in the queue please after Dan, our SSL 4000e panel just has the transport and VCA switches but no qwerty etc. We are using an external G series keyboard at the moment.
