Title: Patchbay color coding 4K E/G Series
Post by: tlmaen on December 14, 2025, 07:29:10 PM
Hi,
couldn't find anything reliable with Google search, or here in the forum.

What is the correct color coding für the SSL Patchbay?

Have to redo mine, as it were `customised`.

Would love to see some pictures!
Maybe with some useful color upgrades from 5/6/8/9k consoles...

Thanks,
Tilmann

Thanks Walrus,

This is original?

Anyone else got pictures?

Regards,
Tilmann

As far as I know it is original. The desk was at RAK studios from new until its sale about 4 years ago.

Being the wiring moderator on here, I can confim that this is a standard layout for the colours.
Looks like a 56 wide patchbay so some things may be in a different position than a 48 wide version but the colours should be the same.

Good to see it labelled with A/B, C/D etc.

I was with SSL in the early days from 1980-87 and then left to undertake studio installations, mostly with SSL's but haven't had any work on these for over a year now.

Regards from Jim Lassen in the UK.
