Hey there,
in need of new PSU for my SSL 6000 G. Thinking about purchasing from Funky Junk/Proaudioeurope in London - anyone tried that? Your verdict?

Also eager to hear any suggestions regarding alternatives.

Cheers,
M.

Mattia is the man to talk to about Funky Junk. There is also a dude here in the US building new psu's that are suppose to be easier on the power consumption and very quiet. But, either Mattia or Sintech can let you know better since your across the pond. I love saying "across the pond", makes me feel SPECIAL.lol

Thanks for prompt reply - must say this forum is a dream come true.

My console is a 48 ch, previously owned by SVT (Swedish state TV) i Malmö. Serviced well, in use until the day before I bought it.

Symptoms: First started shutting down the +/- 20 feed (indicator lamps turns off, desk goes into "safemode"), then escalating into totally shutting down all power with loud "smack" - all indicator lights off, restart possible, but then after a while - same again. Did try this only once...

The chassi of the PSU feels a bit extra hot probably just after the shutdown. Otherwise properly ventilated et al. In use here for about three years, powered on 24/7, 365 days/year.

Extremely grateful for all suggestions and help - I am not a "under the hood" kinda guy... Currently rescheduling work due to the situation...

get someone who is good under the hood to come in and take a good look at your supply. It may just need a good going thru. Sometimes the faults are obvious (and sometime less so)

The supplies are generally well built, even though they have a few weak points they have already given many decades of good service and may be able to do it in the future as well.

Totally agree with Alan, these things are the most serviceable supplies known to man.

If you get a chance, please take some internal pictures, just to get an idea of age and condition.

Hey beijmo and wellcome to the forum!
Just letting you know if you need a service guy I'm quite close to you, Helsinki, Finland. If you're in hurry I have a spare PSU which I can rent for time your PSU is repaired.

Cheers,
Paavo
