Ultimation Faders - SL678G Electronics Part List (352/353 cards)
« on: February 26, 2015, 10:17:17 PM »
Hi guys,

For Ultimation console owners, I did a parts list with all electronic components on the 352 Control Card and 353 Servo Card in the SL648G fader cartridge. I sourced all the modern direct replacements and double check datasheet compatibility. All these should be direct replacements, unless stated.

I haven't included mechanical parts, SMD resistors and capacitors, ceramic/poly capacitors and thermal resistors. These are the ones that most probably won't fail. All the rest is covered.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TWRIpY5Ie5fhcvS7xrdp83DNt-sWYF2at3-MAYJEoL4/edit?usp=sharing

I hope you find this useful. If you find any errors don't hesitate to let me know so I can correct it.

Cheers,

Artur

Very well done Arthur! Quiet a lot of work!

Only edit is to the name of this thread: Shouldn't it be SL678G instead of SL648G or is this another name for the fader assembly?

Regarding revisions of ultimation faders:
I am also very interested in understanding revisions. As I understand it the complete ultimation fader assembly has a revision number, the two pcb's has different revisions, the touch hybrids has been changed several times etc.

The 353 PCBs I have met have two main revisions called 6082353EGH (early) and 6082353EJK (later). The latter is first mentioned in my schematics from july 1997 and has the added IC10 (buffering the input from the servo fader lane). In our early versions we have touch hybrids with and without the external C15 matched to the hybrid. In the latter version we only have touch hybrids without the C15 mounted to the pcb. And on the earlier TR10 is TIP125 instead of TIP127.

Cheers,
Uffe

Hi Uffe,

Thanks for noting that! That was definitely a typo.

It would be nice to have access to earlier schematics of the Ultimation 352 and 353 cards. The study I did was entirely based on the rev1 schematics of the 353 and rev6 for the 352. I'm not sure if any earlier revisions were ever printed on schematics.

Paavo already discussed the different versions of the TS module. I was able to get my hands into the official documentation of Penny & Giles for this module. Although it's not schematics, gives you a pretty good idea what it does and which signals are on each pin.

I would like to have a list of differences between older and early releases. I could open a third tab to note these down.

Could you be more elaborate/exhaustive on the differences and the versions they pertain to. Also if you have in your possession any earlier schematics I would really appreciate if you could scan them and send them to my personal email please?

If you could help me on this I would start immediately noting down the differences.

Thank you very much,

Artur

EDIT: I went ahead and created a new tab which I hope to complete with the help of ultimation owners such as you.

By the way I also have revisions such as EF. This one still has the TIP125 and the onboard capacitor matched with the TS module.

PS: I was reading the TIP125 schematics and it's basically the same than TIP127, the only difference is that TIP125 maximum voltages and some operating characteristics. I am curious to see if the current biasing and surrounding of the TIP125 is directly compatible with the TIP127. If it is, it's a direct replacement

EDIT: online sheets fully updated

Hi

The schematics I have are:

T82352.71 (PCB JK) Last drawing rev: 6A - 26 FEB 92 Used on SL678
T82353.71 (PCB GH) Last drawing rev: 6A - 10 NOV 92 Used on SL678
T82353.72 (PCB GH) Last drawing rev: 6A - 10 NOV 92 Used on SL678
(These are the same as the scanned pdf manual from this forum)

T82353.71.3 (PCB JK) Last drawing rev: 1A - 31 JULY 97 Used on SL678E3
T82353.72.3 (PCB JK) Last drawing rev: 1A - 31 JULY 97 Used on SL678E3

T82353.71.4 (PCB JK) Last drawing rev: 1A - 31 JULY 97 Used on SL678E4
T82353.72.4 (PCB JK) Last drawing rev: 1A - 31 JULY 97 Used on SL678E4

I don't know any differences on the last two revs E3 and E4.

Let me know which ones you want  :)

Cheers,
Uffe

Hi Uffe,

I was going through all my insane pile of documents and I don't have some versions your are talking about.

I have 2 manuals,the following matches:

352.71 - PCB issue JK - 6A (25 feb 92)
353.71 - PCB issue GH - 4A (7 oct 91)

and

352.71 - PCB issue JK - 6A (25 feb 92)
353.71.4 - PCB issue JK - 1A (31 jul 97)

It seems you might have some I don't have. Could you please recheck yours and see which mismatch the ones I have please? And if you have different could you send them to me to my e-mail? I would appreciate.

I can make a PDF with only these sheets separated by releases.

Thank you!

Cheers,

Artur

Thanks Uffe,

If you find you have different versions than I have, please scan all those important pages ok? It would be a great addition for the work we are trying to do here.

PS: If you feel like it, why not the entire Ultimation manual, that would rock! ;)

PS2: I am trying to find the EF schematics

Thank you very much for the support!

Cheers,

Artur

Hey-oh! I'm in desperate need of SL678G schematics.  Can anyone here help or point me in the right direction of where I can find a pdf?

The links listed previously in this thread are not working.

Thanks in advance for all your help... Much appreciated!!!
