On my journey recapping my 1992 G-Series I discovered WIMA MKS2 Film Capacitors as a replacement for Electrolytic Capacitors.
The advantages compared to Electrolytics are tremendous:- No ageing - never recap EVER: Operating life 300.000 h (= 34 years operating at 100 degrees C)
- Capacitance does not drop with frequency (it does up to 10% in Electrolytics between 100Hz and 10kHz)
- 10% tolerance
- Very low series resistance
- As a result, much less degradation of the signalSo far, I have used them to replace 0,47uF and 1,5uF Caps, very few of which are used in our consoles. (G-Series Logic Card, Power Supply Regulators)
To really make a difference across the console,
large quantities of 10uF 50V Film Caps are needed, which is the largest value available with 5mm Lead Spacing.

Note that prices are still over 2 € a cap (ordering 100) and we need about 200 of those on the Centre Section, and more than 800 for the channels on a 48-Channel Console.
The lowest offer I found is at Conrad in Germany - they sell them for € 0,83 each if you order 1000.

I am personally planning to recap my centre section with those, so I need about 200. If we find 5 people doing the same, I’m happy to order 1000. Let me know - it takes 15 weeks for them to ship the order though.
Just keep in mind that you only do this once and - for about € 170 you NEVER EVER have to recap HALF of your consoles centre section again.
