SSL 82E132 EQ alignment

walrus:
Well, I managed to talk to someone inside "Headquarters" who remembered how he used to test them in production. So I've written up his explanation and attached it. He was a little hazy on how the LF Filter Corner preset is adjusted, so I've tried to put his words down as I understood him.

Hi people. I've just seen the attached document on this topic and I notice that the original eq curve graph was done by John East who is a good friend of mine.

He was a very important member of SSL at the beginning and was responsible for most of the look of the 4K consoles. He left SSL around 1985 to do the same task with the Sony Oxford digital console and now designs and builds top end guitar retrofit pre-amps (http://www.east-uk.com/).

Just thought I'd give you a bit of SSL history, that's all as his name appears on the document shown. Sorry I can't help with the actual problem as I just wire things!

Druhms:
Man,  that graph is interesting stuff.  I'd like to see the graphs for all of the bands on all of the various EQ's SSL made.  Is there somewhere I can find that info?  It would be interesting to see what is really going on when I keep eq'ing the hell out of a limp wrist snare channel!  haha
Thanks!
JJ

Here http://www.recycledaudio.co.uk/consoles/ssl-faq-info/eq-types/tech-info/

That's Black 242, Pink 292 and Orange Pultec.

Brown will be the same as 242 with 15dB boost/cut and shallower filters.

Druhms:
Excellent!  Thanks for the lead!
JJ
