82E13 issue low level signal output
« on: May 07, 2021, 07:40:09 PM »
Hi, I got low level output on some channels (-15 / -20dB, not alignement issue).
I found out by swaping cards that the 82E13 are faulty.
Anyone knows what faulty components can cause that ?
Thanks in advance.

Which revision VCA cards were these?

I have had a similar issue on two channels, and both were the only gold can VCAs I had in the console.

Anthony.

Have you checked whether the problem is caps? Simple test:
1/ Put 1khz through circuit. Meter the output level.
2/ Put 30 Hz through circuit. Is output level significantly lower than the 1khz level? If so, you have dry capacitors.

@Anthony: I got few gold cans, but they are not the faulty ones.
@radardoug2: I fed the channel with 1 kHz to reach 0dB on the output VU meters, then I change to 50 Hz, and yes the level gone down to -10dB. I will ask my tech to change capacitors. Thank you very much.
