Hey all!
Need some help ! Weird problem.
So, console pops through the speakers and displays on meters when mix button is pressed. Every time. .
As well as when the vca to monitor is pressed every time. .
Only audible when monitor pot is up tho.
Pops also happen When another status is selected. From mix.
So record to mix, Pop
Mix to record. Pop.
Record to replay no real pop.
Replay record. No pop.
Another weird thing.
In replay, vca to monitor is bright.
In record, vca to monitor is a bit more dim
In mix, vca to monitor is quite dim.
I’m guessing it’s somewhat related.

You have a dc offset somewhere. Will be hard to find. Try turning off all buckets, pop still there? In master section.
Pop gone, turn on one bucket at a time till pop comes back. The pull channels one at a time.

Thank you for the idea. I didn’t consider it being part of any channel. Assumed it was from the master section.
I’ll report back tomorrow when I’m back at studio.

could you fix the problem?
I think I have the same problem, but it is still there even when all buckets are switched off.
It also affects every LF Cut button. Extrem when you solo something and a good amount of channels are getting cut.

Might be the "20" card at the very bottom of the center section. I have a lot of problem with that card in the past. Bad fets and resistors. One of the cards, I fused the 8 data lines going to all the faders to prevent burning resistors. I haven't had a problem since, years ago.

Thanks for the Tip. What did you exactly do replacing the resistors with fuses?
If the resistor burns the fuse should burn too, right?

There were around 12 revisions of the "20" card, with very differing designs. It is one of the most common cards to fail. They got it right by the time of the G in the early-mid 90's.
Usually the failure is due to the BFR39 / BFR80 drive transistors, which in turn burns out the fusing resistors on each VCA group that fails, and likely the main power rails on that card.
I have many of these toasted cards in my scrap bin.
