Title: 3 Power supplies, power up sequence.

I was in a chat with Mattia about powering up my console. Currently I have a device that allows power up of the 3 supplies at once. He wasn't terribly pleased to hear about this.

If you're running 3 supplies, how are you powering up/down?

The about once a second flip the "ON" switches under the desk as to not over load anything. Does that make sense? I can get more specific if you need me to.

Same here. 4064E/G 1982. never failed. but I guess each one it's own...

the other thing is that they like to see a bit of load when being switched on. i always leave the 651 plus one bucket on, and then switch off all the psus and computer.
switching on is console psus, then computer/ultimation, then the buckets that were switched off.
been doing this for years without any issues, both on my old E (1988) and the G+ i recently got.

This seems to be the key for our 4056G. We have been leaving 3 buckets on while turning on the supplies, and no longer have the issues we were experiencing with no load.

What kind issues you've had?
We've powered up our 4056G+ by the way commission engineer Peter Higgs told us. While all buckets are off, turn on psu's and changeover and then turn buckets on one buy one.

Post by: brewery on September 20, 2012, 03:49:15 PM: the newer supplies have all kinds of soft start features, so maybe you don't need to do this. peter definitely knows what he's talking about.
with older (even older G) supplies it might be better to leave a bucket or 2 on.

It's been a while, but we'd blow the occasional power transistor, or bridge rectifier.
