Title: Plugin SSL
Post by: Toni Quintana on January 22, 2026, 10:47:59 PM
Hi, this might not be the right forum to ask this question, if so, I apologize. I own and work daily with an SSL 4024G console, and lately, for some of my mixing, I've been considering doing it on my computer. I'm not familiar with plugins and I wanted to ask if anyone could tell me which plugin is most similar to the 4000E/G console. Thank you very much.

I don't have a full SSL 4k but do have two Rhodes Audio Design racked 4000 channels to compare to in my studio. There are lots of emulations out there and I have many of them. The ones that get used the most here are the Waves CLA Mixhub and UAD 4K channel. That said, I sometimes wish I had more hardware channels or even a small desk like you do!

I have used most of the SSL channel plugins over the years. I have been gravitating to the latest actual SSL plugins. I really like the latest SSL G channel plugin that was released last year. I also like the waves EV2 and If I am doing needing DSP, as I have Pro Tools HDX system, the Brainworks SSL plugins are great.

Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for your replies. Logically, I thought the brand's own plugins would be the best, so I bought the channels and the bus compressor. I also asked the AI to find the best recommendations, and it pointed to Brainwors, so I'm doing tests to see if I can get good results.

The Plugin Alliance / Brainworx G and J console plugins behave the closest to me. The Townhouse bus compressor (Plugin Alliance) or the Waves bus compressor are also very good for what they are.
