Over the last year or so I have had quite a few enquires regarding replacements for the SSL patchbay clear designation strip. I need a load and various studios have requested replacements as their versions have discoloured over a few decades of use.
I spoke to SSL today and they only have a few left somewhere with no plans to buy more. Therefore, I will try and source some more of these even if they have to be custom made. If the price is right, I will buy some and update this post.
These are used across a broad range of older SSL consoles and it is a shame that they are not commercially available. The most common size is for a 96 way patchbay but other versions included those for a 64, 80, 112 and even a 160 way patch.
Meanwhile, if any of you know of a source for these, I would be interested to know. The SSL part number for a 48 wide version (used on a 96 way patch) was 53941102A.
