Has anybody used 2Tools and can give a short summary on what works, and what doesnt.
I have a brandnew Smart 2Tools here, and want to try it.
If I understand it correctly, 2Tools generates MMC (Play, Stop, Rewind, Record, etc) for my DAW from the 4Ks Transport Panel.
The DAW needs to play a SMPTE Timecode-Track as audio to which the SSL computer follows. Correct?
I'm using Logic 9.

I beta tested 2Tools for Al in 1998, it works exactly like a tape machine, so the SSL computer is in charge of locating the DAW.
SMPTE from a DAW track feeds the SSL and Tach Pulses let the SSL locate the DAW.
Once you dropped your Cue list in, you can say type: CYCLE 'CH 1' The SSL with play Chorus 1, stop, rewind and then Play Chorus 1, until you give it the next command.
Personally, it keeps your hands off the DAW and on the SSL faders, and you just work with the Cue list (song arrangement) building a mix

yes, 2tools works with logic too, but nowhere near as good as the konnektor.
with logic, you will always have to play smpte from an audio track.
if you have pro tools with a sync i/o, it will put out the smpte for you.
but konnektor is the one to get, and werner is really good to deal with.

hi to you all,
this is my first post on this forum and i wanted to say hello
i can see quite a few familiar names here and i'm pleased that good things are being said about my product, the konnektor
great to finally have a place to discuss all things ssl!
to me it is the best mixing desk in the world and this forum will definitely help to prolong it's life
regarding 2 tools - it should work just fine
it hooks up via the s29 port to the desk and through midi i/o to the daw
then smpte from logic to ssl t/c reader input
i remember there was a rotary switch which you had to flip to another setting for some daws
i guess this had to do with logic using different commands for recording - i had to implement a logic mode into the konnektor as well
2 tools uses the mackie hui protocol to locate the daw
so as long as logic still supports it (which i think it does) it should be fine
cheers, werner
