Quick one ....

Is it 'normal' to have to repeatedly switch desk buckets on and off in order to get all the cut and solo lights to come on as expected?

We've found on a few occasions, with the desk zero'd and when mixing, that pressing Solo 0, Cut 0 or solo/cutting groups doesn't effect all the channels that it should. The same solo/cut lights on those individual channels all work when pressed in, just not when they should when grouped.

If we switch the offending buckets off and on again - everything syncs up as it should. Sometimes a bucket needs to be switched on and off multiple times.

I know these desks are old, just wanted to know if this is something you guys find the need to do regularly, or is it a sign of a fault that needs attention?

We've not yet noticed this happening after the desk has already been on with everything working correctly, so if it's simply a start up issue that we need to double check each morning and then forget about, that's ok (we power everything off every night when we finish).

When powering to you turn on the Centre section last?

Also, check your voltages at the center section, they should be +18, -18 +/- .1v to 0v
and 6.5 between +18 and "+11" +/-.25, This being off will definitely cause what
you are seeing. N

How do you mean Sintech?
Usually I turn Center Section on at first.

Also with my console....651 Center first, then buckets and last plasmas...

I newer see similar problem...

Was taught (rightly or wrongly) do it the other way, buckets first, then the centre.

This would then apply VCA Group 0 voltage from the 20 card at the same time to each bucket.

That’s why I wondered.

Same reason as using the console with dark buckets.. solos and cuts play up, and the Logic voltages get loaded down.

There has been times when problems are "fixed" by simply resetting the center section,
especially on the 8K. So I don't think it matters either way, buckets or center first. I find
the same thing with the computer verses desk. N

The correct voltage lights seem to be on.
We've been switching on the center section first, but will try to see if we see any difference tomorrow doing it the other way around.
Love the desk anyway!
