Hi guys,
Everything is in the title, I want to buy a batch of DBX202X VCAs
-
worth getting in touch here:
http://www.recycledaudio.co.uk/
but you are probably going to get a negative reply. they have been discontinued for a number of decades and the only possible way to get them to work (if this is what you need to do) is to replace the VCAs inside.

I just sent an Email to Recycleaudio and waiting for the answer.

here's one

also the DIY guys have a 4 instead of 8 dbx unit circuit board available.

Studioelectronics doesn't have it.
Serpent Audio propose a replacement boards, I'm looking for the original 202X.
-
Nobody??
-
Propably nobody as it's quite obsolete nowadays... I just bought one That202 from Recycled Audio and price was, hmmmmm, a lot.
What your point to use oldies? New replacements are working fine with less noise.

The sound is not the same with 202X,
-
So, move the mic, its different again.
the only realistic replacement is with the newer parts, unless you are willing to sink several thousand into just that part of the machine. You did see that they will sell you one already made up, not just the bare circuit board.

It's also true, but I really want the 202X. :)
-
every thing you can learn is on the THAT website.
http://www.thatcorp.com/datashts/dn127.pdf
to be achievable you might consider the 4X board with the 2151, that is probably the achievable solution with out ridiculous expense. It will have higher noise and distortion than the original, but the flavor of the 202X. Good luck finding enough 2151 chips.
-
Yes but the 2150 is also difficult to find than 202X
-
202X is made up of 8 2150 chips, see the THAT documentation.
-
Yes I know this doc.
But the current vcas production is 2180 and 2181 made by That corp. The 2150 is impossible to found.
-
correct.
to amass a sufficient quantity of 2150 vca's is never going to happen.
