Title: How to format 8" Floppy...?

Hello,

I need to make some copies of my program disk, but it appears that my 8" floppies need to be formatted, and FORMAT EXECUTE doesn't work since they are not 3.5" floppies. Does anyone know how to format the 8" disks so that I can make copies? I have SS, SD as well as DS, DD and neither of them work. Both are from un-opened boxes.

You can't format the 8" from the computer like the 3.5 or carts

They need to be pre-formated IBM SS,SD.

During my young years, I used to type "Label + exec" .

With a 3.5, you'd still need to 'Label + Ex' the disc after 'Format Ex'

Been caught out like this before buying non-formatted 8" SS,SD :(

I heard there was a utility disk that allows you to format the 8" floppy?

Also "name" "title" I think

LABEL (whatever) EXECUTE
 
NAME TITLE (Whatever) EXECUTE

END or NAME SETUP (whatever)

it should work

A non-formatted 8" floppy will not work... ***ever*** without an IBM machine with 8" to format them.

Wasted money buying NOS 8" SS,SD without an IBM format, and you only make the mistake once!
