Title: 6k VCA putting out maximum after power outage/surge **SOLVED**

Hi Guys,

I have a 6k that went through a power outage/flicker. When it came back on the channel VCA's are all at maximum loudness and do nothing when you try to lower. VCA to monitors engaged, turn up the master center section volume control and every channel is wide open. The computer has been rebooted several times, no change. As a side note, the center section CRT has been dead for a while and the outboard CRT they had hooked up is not displaying anything, so it's not possible to tell if the computer is really running... Thoughts ?

Is this a VCA fader not ultimation correct?

If it's VCA  have you tried to fit the bypass links in one or more buckets to check if the fault is on the computer sends or returns?

It seems you might be missing a voltage somewhere, or something is shorting to ground since fader fully up is 0v.

**SOLVED**

The owner had "rebooted" but without a REEL DISC. And, since their CRT monitor was out they couldn't see that the computer was waiting for the reel disc portion of the boot.

Pressing "CANCEL", twice on the keyboard allowed the computer to finish the boot and bring the VCAs into normal operation.
