Pics soon. Turned console on and as expected issues.  I’ve changed a few bus switch’s on test jig for a few channels prior but now with all channels in I have about 30 to swap out. I might have just about that many spare 👍.  The main issue are there are a few channels where the cut is constantly on and also I’m unable to cut the rest of the channels. I don’t think they can all be bulbs.  Any ideas?  I also have to set up the program disc to suit my board. I took pics of my 8” floppy settings so I’ll do that next. Also waiting for wd40 to work on of course one screw on the center section to unscrew.  lol

4K,6K,8K Series / Console finally upright …..
« Last post by Jdm5149 on September 07, 2026, 05:08:17 PM »
Well after 2 years in storage I finally got to put my 4000e/g on its legs.  I bought it 2 years ago driving 24 hours with my wife to purchase. And yesterday it was both of us putting it upright. In these last 2 years I have posted many times and I would like to thank everyone that responded to my posts. I had many questions over the years. I’ve cleaned every channel and redid every fader. They were really bad and now feel like new. Got a Mpower and one computer running so I’ll be booting it up hopefully this week. 👍. I’ll post some pics soon …..

If I understand your post correctly, you are working continuously in "Record" status. So, you don't change Status between recording and playback when using your DAW?
To me, that sounds more like a DAW issue than a fault with the mixing console.
I also always get suspicious when a fault occurs on two channels simultaneously...

Try patching a signal into the "Tape Mon" inputs 1/2, 3/4, etc. The signal should then appear on the mix bus (with "Record" status activated and the "VCA to Mon" setting engaged).
Or Crosspatching PT Out 3/4 with 1/2.

Thank you all for your ideas. We will check it out tonight at studio ! This issue never happened before.

Maybe the logic signals from the master section are not getting to the logic card on channels 1 & 2 from the bucket mother boards. Check the gold pins in the blue edge connectors on those mother boards. I have had issues with them in the past. Put a ribbon "bypass" jumper in to by pass the computer. If you replace the 50 way ribbon with a jumper under the faders, that total removes the computer and it's wiring.

@gollito said swapping in a different channel had same problem, so can't be a Logic card switch problem.

Has this just happened and it was OK before??

Check the DIP switches on the logic card (6082293) for those channels, that determine the Supercue behaviour.

Compare the positions to a working channel.

4K,6K,8K Series / SSL 4000 G+ — No Return on Channels 1–2 During Record Status
« Last post by gollito on August 26, 2026, 06:21:57 PM »
Hi to all friends ..

I’m troubleshooting a strange issue on my SSL 4000 G+. Channels 1–2 record normally and the input signal is present on the meters, but when the console is in Record Status, there is no DAW/tape return on channels 1–2. As soon as I stop recording and go to playback, the return on 1–2 works normally.

I have completely bypassed/cleared the patchbay and reset the relevant routing. I also tested the Pro Tools outputs directly: all output pairs (3–4, 5–6, 7–8, etc.) return correctly to the console, while 1–2 behave differently. However, the physical Pro Tools outputs 1–2 themselves are confirmed to be working, because when I use them during playback the console receives and reproduces the signal normally.

I also tested with Fader Reverse OFF, with exactly the same result. Most importantly, I swapped the channel strip from position 26 into position 1, and the problem remained at physical position 1. The original channel 26 works normally in its own position. So the fault does not appear to follow the channel strip.

At this point I’m wondering whether this could be related to the Record Status / tape-return switching circuitry associated with positions 1–2, rather than the channel modules themselves. My technician has suggested that a status circuit/status chip could potentially be involved. Has anyone experienced a similar fault on a G+ or has any insight into which circuitry I should investigate next?

We have a card version from Desk Doctor. It is not as "feature Rich" as your version. Nice job on your version.
