Electronic parts and equivalences

I'd like to know if one of you know if there is a site that gives equivalence on electronic parts.
For example I'd like to change some ICs of my dynamic card (1983) CA324E with one from an old card (1979) MC3403

I usually google "-chip name- replacement" and usually find something. The dealers like Mouser or Digikey also sometimes have information on suitable replacements.

Why do you want to use the chip from the old card?

Yes exactly! I have tons of spare for 1979 modules and don't have any for 1983 modules.
 
I want to put some mc3403 instead of Ca324.

I've seen that there is a correspondance between those two...

I need to, soon. The 2150 is pre-trimmed. I might be totally off, but I think you need to cut off or bend back pin 4 on the VCA chip.

BTW, the 2180 is said to be a significant sonic upgrade.

Ebay is the best place to get DBX VCA's

or Mouser if you want the 2181 series.

The 81 series is lower distortion and lower noise. Better is in the eye of the beholder, I think it is, but others prefer the more colored sound.
