Strange disconnected wire.

Hi,
i'm in the process of recapping and cleaning of the channels of my beauty 4064 E/G.
I've found that some Eq pots have the brown wire disconnect. Someone can tell me why ?

The pots are the gain control of the HMF and LMF band . I've got the 82E132 Eq card.

you are going to have to figure out where the wire does attach at the existing end, find it in the schematic and then, you can know where it goes.

These wires are the centre taps, via a resistor to ground usually.

Maybe they’ve been cut to accommodate the Pultec EQ?

Personally would connect them back up and see if anything changes.

Wow, I have never, ever seen this before and agree with Andy. These must have been cut at some point as both pots have centre taps on the them which are now unconnected. The 24 awg kynar wires used on the SSL are solid core and would have a fairly high current rating. So for them to be disconnected must mean it is on purpose otherwise, a shed load more wires would have burned out, even ignoring the channel fuses. Think logically on this! Also, the wiring seems fairly old so these may have been cut years ago as the heat from the console seems to have affected the ends plus the surrounding areas.

By the way, if anyone is interested, I have a few hundred metres of the thin clear heatshrink that is applied to these pots to keep the wires in place etc.
