I am bussing out a channel say 17 to bus 16. I on Channel 16 I the ready group button, it lights up, but no signal is on the small. The know the bus is sending out because if I hit subgroup, I can pick it up on the larger fader. Where do I look to trouble should.  If I buss out busses 25-32 even thing works fine. 4000G desk. Right side 1-24. Left 25-32.

Where do I begin to trouble shoot this?

There is no signal on SF ch 16 in your case, the send level is on the ch 16 group trim if thats what you look for?

I guess I don't understand. I know the buss is sending out signal. The ready group just won't pick up that signal and put it on the SF.

No, maybe I dont understand instead hehe, what you describe... no there shouldnt be signal on ch 16 SF if you sent signal from ch 17 to bus 16

Correct. Channel 17 should pick up the signal that channel 16 is sending to Buss 17 when you hit the ready group button.  None of the ready group buttons on channels 1-24 will pick up their buss signal and put it on the SF. It works fine on channels 25-48. There must something on the main frame of the left side that isn't engaging.

Send out a signal out the buss. Say you send it to buss 25. When you hit ready group (in mix mode) the signal on buss 25 should appear on the small fader of channel 25.

I confirm perfectsnd behavior.

On my G+ if I hit READY GROUP on a channel it will pick up whatever has been send to that channel's group input. So if I route the output of any track to bus 17 lets say, and then on channel 17 hit READY GROUP, the small fader on channel 17 will pick it up.

This happens with all channels from 1-32 if you use the routing matrix. If you insert directly on the group input it will work with all channels of course.

And in my case it will as designed for channels 25-48, but will not work for 1-24. So what i need to know is where to look on the desk to begin to fix this.

Questions:

You say your console is inverted, so 1-24 on the right, 25-32 on the left, maybe it has to do with the way it was inverted. So the right side 1-24 is not working picking up groups on small fader is this correct?

I would first try to isolate if this is a problem of the channel strips or the grouping buses. Insert directly a test tone in the bus groups inputs on the patch bay and try to pick it up this way.

Also try to pick it up with the big fader by pressing SUB GP on the channel input.

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers,

Artur

My buckets aren't inverted. I must have mispoke. Buckets 1-24 are on the left and 25-48 are on the right.

Ok, anyways do those testings I mentioned to try to isolate where the fault is.

The fault has to be the Ready Group buttons on the left bucket channels not signaling the the buss input to go the small fader.  The ready group button lights up but doesn't activate the small fader. i can get signal to the small fader but every other known button combination or going directly in with a signal to the small fader, but the ready group won't do it.

That's why I was telling you to do what I mentioned. That way you could isolate either the channel strip or the groups bus.

I strange the READY GROUP since this is happening on the entire left side buckets, so it doesn't seem it's a localized channel strip fault. Anyways I would put a channel strip on an extender and see where the signal is disappearing and go from there. I

Can you get the group feed into the large fader?

You can probe the group logic card and make sure it's triggering the right logic when READY GROUP is pressed. The same thing with logic amp card. See the edge connectors descriptions for these cards, the signal is there coming from the 611 motherboard.

At this point the only thing I can think of that could affect a bulk of channel strips is an SSL mod called MASTER READY GROUP and is on the center section. This is a button when pressed enables all MASTER READY GROUPs on all channel strips. Maybe is preventing correctly triggering the left buckets? Not all consoles have this, check yours (I think it's standard on G+ consoles).

Cheers,

Artur
