Okay. So I found the problem and it ended up to be operator error. I never checked the patch bay and after a session the desk had patch bay cords in the multitrack inputs from channels 1-22. This stopped the bus signal from getting back to the small fader.
At least this was an easy fix. Pull all the patch bay cords.
