Possible to run desk without the vca card?

Hey all. Someone recently said it’s possible to run the ssl e series desk without the vca cards but still have large faders? Can anyone confirm/ know how to do this?

Without looking at the schematic which I dont have in front of me, the VCA card has switching on it which may involve the swap between large and small faders, so I would say no, unless you set up the appropriate mods. But look at the schematic to confirm this.

At a first look it should be relatively possible, but you would need to effectively take out the VCA and replace the in/out of it with a 10k log main fader.

This is how it was done in my current Amek Angela desk. The VCA "card" is effectively the main audio fader, and the VCA fader is the voltage controller to it.
