Plasma meters are KILLING ME.

Turned the console on this morning ready for sessions this week.

Plasmas have gone to shit again, same problem as before, a transistor on the 250v DC board I'm guessing as the symptoms appear the same.

Right at the moment I need the console, the meters have failed again. I've had enough.

I would LOVE to get rid of these and fit VUs... has anyone done this?

We have done this at Funky London for a 56 channels one.
it's a long and EXPENSIVE process which involves new panels to be cut, lots of meters from SIFAM (certanly not cheap!) and driver cards with LEDS (for status) and illumination bulb on top.
I think back then it worked out at £1200 per 8 channels bay or something in that region...
the only viable solution is to do it yourself and find a way of soldering the bits together.
also recycle audio might have some second hand stuff, worth sending them an email!

Yes I've just heard from someone, they can supply for £950 per 8 channels. Adds up when there's 56 channels!.

There's a fellow here in Australia that is doing a system too, I'll be chatting to him on Monday, will post news as it comes.

My tech is in India, my other tech is too busy.... not a happy SSL owner at the moment.

I just wanted to chime in here, I may be able to come up with some VU's from consoles that are being parted out here in the states. I have a console that we are parting out but if I recall it has Plasma meters. If anything, I do have the daughter cards if that is of any use to you. PM me if interested.

Lets have an email brigade to JLM audio, I spoke with Joe@JLM Shop <sales@jlmaudio.com> and I know they were creating Drop in LED replacements for our Bargraphs
I want them. I think if they know we are going to order them, they will speed up the process. Personally I could go for 56 of them. Can't wait. Email him and inquire. I'd do that before spending that much on VU's. I have lots of spares right now, what do you need?

I just had a good chat to Joe about his system and it's going to rock.

He's still trying to get spectra to work but he said it is all very doable.

He needs interest and orders to get this happening!! it will even fit behind the original plasma facia and have various view options.

Plasmas are fixed!

A few things to be aware of.......

The E75 board that was installed was an older rev than the schematic in the service book.. make sure your tech checks it over. There are a few differences. My tech basically rebuilt the board as the tracks were burnt and some 'funky' rebuilding had already been done. This board gets very hot.. yours is probably black.

There were also a few 10ohm resistors blown also.
