Yep that's the way E channels behave.
They have different design logic cards
I never noticed until now.
My current console is a split 8000 G with 8x 4000 E channels

Been busy troubleshooting and have gotten very far. Board really looks and sounds great. Trying to figure this one out. In mix enabled with computer running only 1-16 and vca 1-8 light up for automation. After a bunch of options I then swapped 17-24 to slot 1-8 and 17-24 lite up on the console.  I already swapped out the computer card with another so it’s something other than the lights/switch’s card. Any suggestions.  Thanks !!

I’ve been troubleshooting and swapping channels around. Would all the multiplex cards need to be reset with their jumpers. I’m assuming so in order for total recall to work. Would that affect the automaton ??

Yes, All the jumpers need to be switched, unless they have already been switched. The dip switches on the multiplex cards on all modules need to be set to different addresses. The address chart is in the manual.

i found multiplex settings in manual and set them up accordingly. i also ran the analogue in test for faders and only 1-16 and vca appeared.  1-16 were frozen open but vca 1-8 tested perfect. gonna swap analogue card and also make some spare 50 pin cables to test

K. Some progress. I booted up from my original 8” floppy drive that I repaired and I got all channels to light up in beginning of mix.  I don’t have a tape machine or pro tools running yet. Pressing execute brings me to the mix running screen but ofc no sympte running. The vca1-8 faders respond but all the channels are unresponsive. When I perform !tes for faders now
I see rows for 48 channels and still only vca 1-8 respond. All others pretty much wide open close to zero.

I looked at manual and found jumper setting for multiplex cards but are there any for the logic cards ?  Are they used for working with computer or not. Or are they also used to determine channel location/number ?

The Logic Card doesn't have jumpers. It has dip switches, which are also in the manual.

Ok. Found page for the e293 logic card.  Those are with my first 24 channels which are g channels
Before I was working on a e channel with 242 cards. Logic card was a totally different number. I also have 6 e channels with brown eq. All the e channels are in the right side of console.  Think I’m gonna start going thru the 24 g channels and get them to work with computer.

the dip switchs seem correct corresponding to manual. here is a pic of the link [lk] wiring. is this correct or did prior owner have it modded to not work with computer.

Wrong Links. The licks you need to check, are under the VCA (13) card. U have to remove the card on each channel to see.

Thanks Dave.  I did install some multiplex cards and moved the pin to correct link but now I don’t remember about doing all the channels.  I will check them all later today.  The board was in storage and channels were too.
