Hi people (a question and some history in the same post!)
About 1982-3, whilst working at SSL (1980-87), I heavily customised a 6K 688 rack (not the 681 size panel with the various cards sticking out) and am curious to know if it is still in use somewhere now or if anyone knows what happened to it. I think it was sold to the USA for some kind of film studio before the 5K came along a few years later.
I wired a lot of one off custom projects for SSL then and, as far as I know it was the only version every made. I spent about a week modifying it for use as a 4 buss unit, unlike the 3 buss, A, B and C normal 688 rack that was in use around that time (designed by Trevor Stride at SSL by the way).
Someone, somewhere may have the answer? Regards from Jim Lassen here in the sunny UK South East (well, it will be on Wed, the 26th of Feb at least, for a change!).
