Aux Pre does not include EQ

Can anyone please clarify what is the default behavior when switching the aux busses to "pre". On our desk it seems pre fader also means pre EQ. We had a session using the auxes for headphone mixes. desk was in record and VCA to monitor. monitor had the returns from DAW. EQ to monitor was selected and the auxes where set to pre. No EQ on the aux signals.
We looked into it and found it doesn't matter if channel or monitor path or SF or VCA or record, mix, VCA to fader or anything. When switching an aux to "pre" it has no EQ. Any ideas?

I would say RTFM! It is not uncommon for the aux pre condition to not include the eq. So if this is a problem for you, you will have to do a workaround. The SSL is a very flexible console, almost anything is possible if you think about it for long enough.

Honestly, I RTFM and I even RTFschematics. I also got a workaround for my setup. I just couldn't figure it out and wanted to ask someone with more experience or simply a 4K in front of him to give me a clue and tell me, if this is how it should be.
I'd find it rather strange to not include the EQ pre-fader when you can dedicate the EQ to each path or just switch it off.  That would be contrary to the otherwise indeed very flexible SSL layout.

Ok, got some time to investigate this further and just want to let you know. It is indeed the fact, that the pre fader aux sends on the monitor channel exclude EQ and dynamics. Both will be fed with signal but the return will be sent directly to the fader assigned to that path (VCA to monitor etc.).  It's interesting that this is stated nowhere in the manual (where it describes the signal flow). I found an old thread on gearslutz addressing this topic on a 9000 so I think they kept that and it was desired this way by SSL. From the schematics I think this can be modded but it would have to be done to every single logic and/or group board on all the channels. Don't know if I want to take the plunge. We consider a completely different monitor solution anyway.

I didnt catch what you are trying to do 100% but its probably the most common usage is to exclude the eq... thats is at least what it means to me using PRE, we setup mixers/consoles differently for sure...

Hmm, I just wanted to EQ signals for the musicians monitors while recording the clean signal while in record+VCAtoMonitor and while keeping the posibility to independently do the control room mix from the large faders. I've seen both variants on consoles but I supposed PRE meaning pre fader and not pre anything else. Anyway, good to learn something new every day.
