No signal from Large Faders on a couple channels
« on: April 18, 2022, 06:18:41 AM »
Hi I am trying to chase down a problem where I have 4 channels on my 4040e/g+ that have signal through the channel all the way till the vca fader. These have never properly worked since install.

I am in Mix with VCAs to Monitor

The small fader passes signal to the matrix but float does not.

If I push up the vca fader all the way i can slightly hear signal.

I have swapped the vca card, group card and logic card on the channel with known working cards and nothing changes.

VCA to meters does work on these channels.

I can put known working channels in each spot on the console and it works as expected.

I have looked through the schematics and Im having a hard time finding where the stoppage might be occuring.

Does anybody have any suggestions for other areas to look?

Thanks!!

Hi,

Do you have total recall 82E03 cards installed? If so, check the S21E connector and contacts are clean, and that the cable is not damaged.
If not, check that the jumpers under the VCA 82E13 card on the main board are not in MPX mode.

Anthony.

If VCAs to Meter works, I believe the VCA voltage should be present on the '13 card, whether it loops through the Multiplex card or not, as the meter send is sent after this. If you set the small fader to Input mode, does that work? If it does, signal is present on the '13 card. Set the small fader to Output; does that work? If not, then the problem in is the '13 card, which you can swap out with one from a known working strip. The fact that Float doesn't work implies signal doesn't leave the '13 card to Quad Bus or Matrix.

Thanks Everyone!
I traced it to the Line Amp card.
I think I understand where the signal is getting lost now. So Im going to replace some 10R resistors.

I realized that when input and output on the small fader didn't work.

Thanks for the help!

Ill update this when I get a chance to work on the card.

Hi,

I just brought a console which im currently restoring at home and have the exact same issue on 5 of my 6000 G+ channels so I'll be very interested in the fix.
